What is VoIP
Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP), is a technology that permits you to make voice calls using an Internet connection instead of traditional phone lines. VoIP services may only permit you to call people using the same service, however others may allow you to call anyone with a phone number - as well as local calls, long distance calls, mobile, or even international numbers. Although some VoIP services only function over your computer or a special VoIP phone, some providers permit you to use a traditional phone connected to a VoIP adapter.

How VoIP Works

What Do you Need?
VoIP requires a high speed Internet connection, a cable modem, or high-speed services such as DSL or a LAN connection can be used. VoIP also requires a computer, an adaptor, or a phone that meets the specified criteria. Some VoIP services will only work by way of your computer or a VoIP specific phone, and some providers permit the use a traditional phones connected through VoIP adapter.

Using a computer will require you to have the necessary software and an inexpensive microphone. VoIP specific phones connect directly to your broadband connection and operates much like a standard telephone. If you use a standard phone with a VoIP adapter, you'll be able make call normally, and depending on the provider may also hear a dial tone. Whatever the need we can assist you in getting you VoIP up and running.
